Job Summary
DoubleTree by Hilton Calgary North is looking for a talented and motivated Chef de Partie to join our culinary team. The Chef de Partie is responsible for overseeing a designated section of the kitchen, ensuring consistent food quality, maintaining high sanitation standards, and supporting the Executive Chef and Sous Chef in daily kitchen operations.
This position is ideal for a passionate culinary professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering exceptional dining experiences for our guests.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and present high-quality dishes within your assigned station.
- Ensure consistency in food quality, presentation, and portion control.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area in accordance with Alberta Health Services and food safety regulations.
- Assist with menu preparation and daily specials.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate ordering needs to the r Executive Chef.
- Minimize food waste and control food costs.
- Ensure proper storage, labeling, and rotation of food products (FIFO).
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff and new team members.
- Work collaboratively with all kitchen staff to ensure smooth service during breakfast, lunch, dinner, banquets, and special events.
- Follow all hotel health, safety, and WHMIS policies.
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries.
- Maintain equipment and report maintenance concerns promptly.
- Be flexible to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Chef de Partie or strong experience as a First Cook in a hotel or restaurant.
- Culinary diploma or equivalent experience preferred.
- Valid Alberta Food Safety Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Experience
- Commercial cooking: 2 years (preferred)
- Hotel kitchen experience: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification
- Food Safety Certification (preferred)
