Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Framing & Structural Work
- Measure, cut, and assemble framing materials with precision and accuracy to meet code compliance and project specifications.
- Lead or participate in the construction of walls, floors, roofs, stair systems, and other structural frameworks.
- Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and schematics to ensure accurate execution.
- Identify potential structural or material issues and develop corrective measures.
- Ensure proper alignment, leveling, and fastening of structural components.
- Construct temporary structures such as scaffolding or bracing when needed.
- Perform repairs or modifications to existing structures as required.
Finish Carpentry & Installations
- Install doors, windows, trim, cabinetry, hardware, and other finish carpentry elements according to specifications.
- Ensure all work meets high standards of quality, safety, and BC Building Code compliance.
- Customize and install millwork and decorative trim to enhance architectural details.
- Perform drywall repairs, patching, and finishing to complement carpentry work.
Site Coordination & Leadership
- Train, mentor, and supervise apprentices or junior carpenters, promoting skill development and best practices.
- Operate power tools, machinery, and specialized equipment safely and effectively.
- Coordinate with site supervisors, subcontractors, and other trades to ensure workflow efficiency and project timelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment in compliance with WorkSafe BC regulations and company policies.
- Conduct on-site safety inspections and report any hazards or concerns.
- Assist with material selection and ordering, ensuring proper inventory for the job site.
- Work closely with project managers to provide progress updates and troubleshoot challenges.
Required Education and Experience:
- Red Seal Certification in Carpentry (an asset).
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with access to a reliable vehicle.
- Submission of a valid Driver’s Abstract and consent to a criminal background check.
- Experience with specialty carpentry (e.g., timber framing, custom cabinetry, or heritage restoration) is an asset.
- Proven experience in residential, commercial, and/or industrial construction.
- Strong knowledge of the BC Building Code, construction methods, and safety standards.
- Exceptional blueprint reading and layout skills; ability to plan and execute complex framing and finishing projects.
- Proficiency in construction-related software (e.g., Procore, AutoCAD, or estimating tools) is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities; able to anticipate issues and implement solutions.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working in physically demanding environments, including at heights and in variable weather conditions.
- Strong communication skills, punctuality, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Pay: $28.00-$38.00 per hour
