Role Description – Business Development Manager
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving business growth by identifying new opportunities, developing strong client relationships, and expanding freight transportation and logistics services across Canada and the United States. This role focuses on lead generation, client acquisition, pricing negotiations, and delivering customized transportation solutions while working closely with operations and dispatch teams to ensure high customer satisfaction and service efficiency.
Salary
75,000 CAD - 80,000 CAD + Commission
Job duties and Qualifications
- Identify and develop new business opportunities for freight transportation and logistics services across Canada and the United States.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, shippers, carriers, and business partners to support long-term business growth.
- Generate leads through networking, cold outreach, digital marketing, referrals, and industry research.
- Negotiate transportation rates, contracts, and service agreements while ensuring profitability and customer satisfaction.
- Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to develop effective business growth strategies.
- Coordinate with dispatch, operations, and customer service teams to ensure timely and efficient freight movement and client satisfaction.
- Prepare freight quotations, pricing proposals, and customized logistics solutions based on client shipping requirements.
- Monitor customer accounts and resolve service-related concerns to maintain strong client relationships and customer retention.
- Maintain records of client interactions, sales activities, and business performance reports.
- Develop and implement marketing and sales strategies to expand the company’s customer base and increase revenue.
- Represent the company in meetings, networking events, and industry-related opportunities to promote transportation and logistics services.
- Collaborate with management to establish sales targets, business objectives, and operational improvements.
- Develop proposals and tailored logistics solutions based on customer transportation needs.
- Research and identify new transportation lanes, shipping opportunities, and target industries to support business expansion.
- Coordinate with clients and internal teams to ensure service expectations and delivery timelines are met efficiently.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple prospects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Logistics, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment, with a focus on achieving measurable sales targets.
