Overview
Flag football is one of the fastest-growing sports in North America, and we’re looking for enthusiastic, reliable officials to join our team. As a Flag Football Referee, you’ll help ensure fair play, player safety, and a fun, positive game environment. This is a great opportunity to earn extra income, stay active, and support youth development.
Key Responsibilities
- Officiate flag football games according to established rules and standards
- Ensure player safety and maintain control of the game
- Enforce rules fairly and consistently
- Communicate effectively with coaches, players, and fellow officials
- Act as a positive role model for youth participants
- Arrive on time and prepared for all assigned games
Compensation & Schedule
- $20.00 per game
- Officiate up to 2 one-hour games per evening, up to 4 nights per week
- Spring season runs approximately 6–7 weeks
- Opportunity to earn several hundred dollars per season
- Payments issued at end of season (or mid-season and end, where applicable)
Eligibility Requirements
- Minimum age: 13 (must turn 14 within the calendar year)
- Ability to work evenings during the season
- Must complete required training and certification
- Must purchase and wear an official referee jersey
Training & Development
All new referees must complete:
- Registration through the Football Canada officials training portal
- Level 1 eLearning module (voucher available)
- Level 1 clinic and exam (open-book)
- Availability setup through TeamLinkt Officials
New officials typically receive at least two paid on-field training games. Ongoing clinics are available for returning referees.
Tools & Equipment
- Official referee jersey required (available through Football Manitoba)
- Equipment kit provided (whistle, flags, cones, etc.) — must be returned at season end
- Scheduling managed through TeamLinkt Officials
