Site Superintendent

We are currently seeking an experienced Site Superintendent to join our team in the Okanagan, with a focus on water and wastewater infrastructure project.
As a Superintendent, you will oversee site staff, field engineering, and field teams accountable for delivering completed projects with a focus on Water/Wastewater infrastructure. The Superintendent is accountable for the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and workmanship.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide overall site leadership and supervision for construction projects, ensuring all work is performed in accordance with contract documents, company policies, and industry best practices.
- Ensure strict compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations, the Workers Compensation Act, Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, and all applicable federal, provincial, and local legislation.
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture by ensuring all workers, subcontractors, and visitors adhere to site-specific safety plans, hazard assessments, and safe work procedures.
- Oversee and ensure the accuracy and completion of all required site documentation, including daily reports, site journals, safety records, inspections, and equipment maintenance logs.
- Lead quality control and quality assurance processes to ensure all work meets contractual requirements, design specifications, and applicable codes and standards.
- Direct and coordinate all site activities, including labour, subcontractors, materials, and equipment, while fostering effective working relationships with owners, consultants, unions, and project stakeholders.
- Review and interpret construction drawings and specifications; lead pre-construction planning and contribute to the development of detailed work plans and project schedules.
- Proactively identify, assess, and resolve design and construction issues, including conflicts, interferences, and deficiencies, in collaboration with Project Managers, consultants, and project teams.
- Plan, monitor, and adjust construction schedules to ensure efficient sequencing of work, appropriate manpower levels, and timely availability of equipment and subcontractors.
- Lead and participate in project meetings, including site meetings, safety meetings, and coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor project costs in collaboration with the Project Manager, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions to maintain budget objectives.
- Ensure compliance with company policies related to respectful workplace, anti-bullying and harassment, and human rights legislation in British Columbia.
- Mentor, coach, and support site personnel to drive performance, accountability, and professional development.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Construction Manager or Senior Management.
Our Superintendent will oversee projects that vary in size and scope, and the successful candidate should have previous experience in leading construction teams, trades and hourly employees. We would require the Superintendent to travel or stay close to the site; flexibility is a must. We are also focused on candidates who currently have:
- Minimum 10 years of construction experience with a General Contractor in a leadership role
- Heavy civil wastewater infrastructure or similar experience is mandatory
- Post-secondary education, CET or equivalent
- Proficiency with MS Office and Windows based computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and Project)
- Can manage site operations on complex projects in excess of $50 million

Salary Range: $110,000 - $150,000 / Year (depending on experience)
Pay: $110,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
