Harbour Environmental Group is seeking an experienced Facility Manager to lead the daily operations of one of our environmental processing facilities.
Reporting to the Regional Manager and VP Operations, this role is responsible for facility safety, environmental compliance, operational performance, customer service, maintenance coordination, and team leadership.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader with a strong customer-service mindset who can build a culture focused on safety, accountability, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction. Experience in industrial operations, environmental services, construction, manufacturing, oilfield services, recycling, transportation, or other heavy industrial environments is considered a strong asset.
Compensation includes a competitive salary, group health benefits, and an annual performance bonus opportunity of up to 25%.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperations Management
- Lead the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of the facility, with a focus on customer service, productivity, regulatory compliance, and profitability.
- Ensure customer turnaround targets are achieved while minimizing facility downtime.
- Manage truck scheduling, material destinations, and disposal or beneficial reuse programs for facility by-products.
- Monitor operating costs and ensure activities are completed within approved budgets.
- Oversee compliance with environmental sampling, testing, reporting, and regulatory requirements are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Oversee facility inventory and consumable supplies.
- Work closely with the Maintenance Manager to coordinate preventative maintenance, equipment repairs, and capital projects.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and maintain effective operating procedures and standards.
Leadership & People Management
- Motivate, lead, coach, and develop a team of 5-10 direct reports.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, customer service, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels, training, onboarding, and competency development.
- Manage scheduling, overtime, employee performance, and development activities.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and productive work environment.
Health, Safety & Environmental Stewardship
- Demonstrate visible leadership and commitment to health, safety, and environmental excellence.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, permits, and regulatory requirements.
- Track and maintain training, safety, and environmental records using company systems.
- Identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain safe operating procedures within Workhub.
- Lead daily safety discussions and communicate key operational priorities and risks to employees.
Customer Service & Customer Relationships
- Champion a customer-first culture throughout the facility.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers through regular communication and proactive problem-solving.
- Ensure all employees understand their role in delivering exceptional customer service.
- Respond promptly and professionally to customer concerns, operational issues, and after-hours emergencies.
- Work closely with the facility team to consistently meet customer expectations and service commitments.
Communication & Planning
- Communicate organizational goals, facility objectives, and operational priorities clearly and consistently.
- Collaborate closely with the Assistant Manager, Maintenance Manager, Regional Manager, and VP Operations.
- Support the development and execution of operating plans, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Leadership experience in an industrial, environmental, construction, manufacturing, oilfield, transportation, recycling, or similar operating environment.
- Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental stewardship.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage customer relationships, and drive operational performance.
- Mechanical aptitude and experience working with industrial equipment is considered an asset.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with computer systems and operational software.
