Position Overview
· The maintenance worker responds to reports of non-functioning equipment and concerns.
· Maintains computer program to record the equipment in need of repair and prioritizes efforts accordingly.
· Maintains facility in operating condition by performing repairs as needed and preventative maintenance checks.
· Replaces or repairs all appliances and damaged bathroom fixtures; executes general plumbing as needed.
· Maintains overall appearance of rooms; replaces broken mirrors, hangs fixtures, painting, etc.
- Receives and stores housekeeping, laundry, nursing and maintenance supplies.
- Complete a daily walkabout around the physical plant of the building.
- Install, change and repair locks in the building where a locksmith is not required
- Assist with special projects seasonally such as; set out and clean outdoor furniture, power washing, snow removal and de-icing and etc.
· Performs other duties as required.
Experience
· 2 Years Maintenance experience
· 2 Years Painting experience
· 1 Year Carpentry experience
· 1 Year Basic Plumbing experience
· 1 Year minimum in a personal care or hospital environment
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
Minimum Grade 12 Education or equivalency
Certification/Licensure/Registration
Must have a valid Driver’s License
Qualifications and Skills
· Demonstrated commitment to safe working practices and environment
· Working knowledge of Fire and Building Codes
· Pro-active problem-solving skills, and demonstrated ability to operate on own initiative
· Good oral and written communication skills
· Able to work independently and as a member of a team
· Understanding of confidentiality and its importance
