A Bit About Us and the Job:
Oak Bay Bikes has been part of Victoria’s cycling community since 1934. As we continue to grow our service department and expand our performance offering, we’re looking for an experienced Bike Builder to join our team.
This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in precision, efficiency, and building bikes to the highest standard - across everything from everyday commuters to high-end performance road builds.
Job Summary:
- Build and assemble new bikes (road, gravel, MTB, e-bikes) to a high standard
- Perform safety checks and quality control on all completed builds
- Install and adjust components including drivetrains, brakes, and cockpit setups
- Ensure bikes are fully tuned and ready for sale or delivery
- Assist with basic service tasks as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace
- Work closely with service writers and sales staff to meet build deadlines
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience building bikes in a shop environment
- Strong knowledge of modern bike components and standards
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work weekends
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
- Passion for cycling and bike mechanics
Bonus Skills
- Experience building high-end or performance road bikes
- Familiarity with electronic shifting systems (Di2, AXS, etc.)
- Experience with tubeless setup and basic wheel truing
- Experience working with e-bike systems

Experience:
- 2+ years retail sales (preferred but not necessary)
