Bazay Blacksmithing is a custom metal fabrication shop looking for a draftsperson to support our team and clients with clear, accurate shop drawings. Our work is diverse and ranges from sheet metal to furniture to large architectural accents. Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, architectural drawings, schedules, and client hand sketches to understand design intent
- Create and revise 3D models and fabrication-ready shop drawings
- Prepare accurate shop drawings for client and internal submission
- Produce drawings for in-house frame fabrication and glass orders
- Convert 3D models into clear 2D drawings for shop use and client review
- Draw and detail sheet metal components in preparation for cutting and folding
- Collaborate with project leads and shop staff to resolve design and fabrication constraints
- Update drawings based on feedback, site conditions, and fabrication requirements
- Identify missing or unclear information before fabrication begins
Requirements:
- Proficiency in SolidWorks
- Ability to create 3D models and convert them into accurate 2D shop drawings
- Experience producing metal fabrication drawings
- Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication, welding, bending, and assembly methods
- Familiarity with industry standards and products
- AutoCAD-only experience is not a fit for this role
