Bracewell Marine is one of the leading marine service shipyards in British Columbia. We proudly repair, repower, and build marine vessels such as fishboats, tugboats, other commercial vessels, and private yachts up to 130 feet and 220 tonnes. Operating in the Shelter Island Marina in Richmond, BC, we are part of the extensive BC marine industry supporting the 4th largest port in North America and the logging, fishing, tourism, and pleasure craft markets.
We are looking for an experienced Strategic Marine Purchaser to join our team. The primary focus for our Strategic Marine Purchaser is to source and order marine parts and fabrication materials as required by the shipyard, boatbuilding, and fabrication teams. There is very little “routine ordering” as our business services a diverse range of vessel repairs and unique fabrication projects. Marine-specific experience is preferred but not required; applicants with other relevant experience and an interest in learning the marine industry through on-the-job training are more than welcome!
Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities of this dynamic role are to assist with purchasing, logistics, and shipyard organization.
· Source and order a wide range of technical components (metals, bearings, fittings, electronics, paints, marine components, etc.)
· Find sources and come up with solutions for difficult to source parts.
· Find and track long lead time items
· Identify opportunities for cost savings and suggest sourcing strategies to achieve cost saving
· Receive and stock parts
· Enter POs and issue parts to jobs in the accounting system
· Input invoices and correct them when required.
· Assist with inventory control, organization, and counts
· Assist with material movement and shipyard parts delivery
· Occasionally drive a flatbed truck or van to pick up and deliver industrial parts
· Occasionally operate forklifts, load and unload deliveries
· Sell parts directly to customers when needed
· Everyone on the Bracewell team is responsible for:

Skills & Experience
· Required: Experience and/or education relevant to purchasing and logistics (e.g., marine services, mechanic, purchasing, shipping/receiving, logistics, and/or retail)
· Required: Valid driver’s license and ability to drive mid-sized vehicles
· Required: Strong comfort with computer software (e.g., Word, Excel, Quickbooks, etc.)
· Required: Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to follow (or establish) procedures
· Required: Good verbal and written communication skills
· Required: Team player with a positive attitude and the ability to balance multiple competing priorities and conflicting timelines
· Asset: Forklift certification
· Asset: Knowledge of (and/or interest in) boats, boat parts, and/or industrial and machining, raw materials (e.g., metals, tooling, bearings, woods & finishes, paints)

· Full-time, permanent, available immediately, Monday to Friday, 8-hour daytime shifts
