Royal Distributing is seeking an experienced Senior IT Administrator to take ownership of all hardware-related IT operations across the organization. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for maintaining and improving our IT hardware and infrastructure while mentoring and developing a mid-level IT technician on the team.
Hardware & Infrastructure
- Own all hardware-related IT operations, including desktops, laptops, servers, networking equipment, peripherals, and mobile devices
- Manage hardware procurement, deployment, lifecycle, inventory, and asset tracking
- Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all IT hardware
- Plan and execute hardware upgrades, replacements, and capacity planning
- Coordinate with vendors on warranties, repairs, and equipment purchases
Cloud, Systems & Networking
- Administer and maintain Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments
- Manage networking infrastructure, including VLANs, VPNs, and routing
- Oversee endpoint management using RMM (Remote Monitoring & Management) and MDM (Mobile Device Management) tools
- Manage patching processes across servers, endpoints, and devices to ensure security and compliance
- Design, maintain, and test backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure business continuity
Service Management & Support
- Manage and prioritize work through IT ticketing systems, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication with end users
- Track, document, and report on incidents and service requests to maintain service quality and identify recurring issues
- Serve as an escalation point for complex hardware, network, and system issues
- Apply ITIL-based best practices to support consistent, efficient IT service delivery
Team Leadership & Mentorship
- Directly manage and mentor a mid-level IT technician
- Provide guidance, training, and support to help the technician develop their technical and professional skills
- Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering growth and increasing responsibility over time
- Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and support career development
Operations & Documentation
- Maintain documentation of configurations, procedures, and standards
- Ensure IT operations align with organizational needs and best practices
- 5+ years of experience in IT administration with a strong hardware and infrastructure focus
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 administration
- Strong networking knowledge, including VLANs, VPNs, and routing
- Experience with RMM and MDM platforms for endpoint management
- Proven experience with patch management, backup, and disaster recovery
- Experience working with IT ticketing systems to manage and prioritize workload
- Working knowledge of ITIL principles and service management best practices (ITIL certification an asset)
- Prior experience mentoring, training, or supervising
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across hardware, networks, and systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, CompTIA Network+, ITIL, or equivalent) are an asset
- Post-secondary education in IT, Computer Science, or a related field preferred
- Salary Range: $80,000 to $100,000
- This is a full-time position scheduled from Monday to Friday. You may be needed outside regular business hours when required.
- This position is hybrid out of our head office in Guelph, Ontario.
