10tation Event Catering is the sister company of Freebird Market. While both companies operate under the same roof, 10tation Event Catering is a separate entity specializing in corporate catering, private events, galas, weddings, and large-scale food service throughout the GTA.
We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and highly motivated Lead Production Cook to join our growing culinary team.
Please Note: This is not a manufacturing, warehouse, food packaging, or factory production position. We are seeking candidates with recent commercial kitchen experience in catering, restaurants, hotels, banquet facilities, commissary kitchens, or institutional food service. Applicants without commercial cooking experience will not be considered.
This is a leadership role within our high-volume production kitchen. Working alongside our Executive Chefs, you will lead daily food production, support the production team, and ensure food is prepared efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of quality, consistency, organization, and food safety.
This is a high-pressure, physically demanding, and fast-paced position. Production volumes are significant, deadlines are strict, and the ability to remain calm, organized, and lead by example under pressure is essential. We are looking for someone who thrives in a challenging environment and takes pride in producing exceptional food every day.
This is a full-time position requiring open availability, including evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily food production alongside the Executive Chefs.
- Support the production team by assigning tasks, monitoring workflow, and ensuring production schedules are met.
- Prepare and cook large batches of proteins, sauces, soups, vegetables, sides, salads, sandwiches, and other catering menu items.
- Ensure recipes, portion sizes, presentation, and quality standards are consistently followed.
- Monitor food quality, freshness, and food safety throughout each shift.
- Train, coach, and support new and existing kitchen team members.
- Assist with production planning, inventory rotation, and kitchen organization.
- Ensure all products are properly packaged, labelled, dated, and stored according to company standards.
- Assist with ordering, receiving, and inventory control when required.
- Identify production issues and proactively communicate solutions to the Executive Chefs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe work environment.
- Participate in daily and weekly cleaning and sanitation procedures.
- Lead by example through professionalism, urgency, teamwork, and accountability.
- Support other kitchen departments as operational needs require.
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum 3 years of recent commercial kitchen cooking experience.
- Experience working in a high-volume catering company, restaurant, hotel, banquet facility, commissary kitchen, or institutional kitchen.
- Strong knowledge of batch cooking and large-scale food production.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to consistency.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Reliable, punctual, professional, and team-oriented.
Preferred
- Previous experience leading or supervising a kitchen team.
- Food Handler Certification.
- Experience with inventory management, production planning, and ordering.
Please Note: Applicants whose experience is limited to warehouse work, food manufacturing, assembly line production, or food packaging without commercial cooking experience will not be considered.
Availability Requirements
- Full-time availability required.
- Open availability is mandatory.
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
