About the Client:
We're seeking a compassionate caregiver to support a senior woman who is transitioning into a cultural retirement home in eastern Scarborough (near Morningside and Old Kingston Road). She values her independence and is looking for someone to help her settle into her new living environment while providing companionship and light assistance. She has friends from her childhood at the residence and is excited about this new chapter, but needs some extra support during the transition period and beyond.
Responsibilities:
- Provide companionship and social engagement during visits
- Assist with light mobility support while walking or transferring
- Help with cleaning and laundry tasks around the apartment
- Be present in the home during certain activities (like showering) for safety and peace of mind
- Accompany her on walks and outings
- Provide transportation for errands and appointments as needed
- Help her get settled and organized in her new living space
- Support her independence while ensuring she feels safe and comfortable
What We're Looking For:
- A PSW or equivalent certification with experience in senior care
- Someone who genuinely enjoys working with older adults and values the social aspect of caregiving
- A caregiver who is calm, patient, and brings positive energy
- Reliable and consistent with strong communication skills
- Takes initiative when needed and respects the client's independence
- Valid driver's license for transportation support
- English speaking
- Someone who makes the client feel comfortable and at ease
Schedule:
Looking for 2-3 visits per week, with each visit lasting 2 hours minimum. Preferred days are Tuesday and Thursday, or Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Preferred time is mid-morning to early afternoon (approximately 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM). The position would begin in early September 2026. This is an ongoing role with flexibility as care needs evolve over time.
