Role: As an integral part of the Fitness team, the Group Fitness Coordinator position is responsible for providing operational support and leadership for our talented team of Group Fitness Instructors. Legendary Service, Safety, Excellence and Innovation are key requirements of the role. The Coordinator is an energetic team builder who inspires a high level of performance and has the capability to implement changes based on business needs while ensuring a legendary experience for our customers.
This is a 20-hour/week position with at least 2 hours of direct delivery of Group Fitness classes.
Reports to: Manager of Fitness

- Develop a Group Fitness schedule that caters to our members and reflects current industry trends.
- Regularly monitor the fitness industry for upcoming trends and new ideas.
- Supervise and coach Instructors to deliver Legendary Experiences in every Group Fitness class.
- Backfill for Instructors when needed.
- Identify staff concerns in a timely manner and discuss the issues and solutions with the manager.
- Recruitment, selection and training of new Instructors.
- Responsible for programming and updating the Group Fitness schedule using Avocado.
- Bi-weekly payroll for Group Fitness Instructors.
- Identify and communicate certification deadlines to Instructors to ensure compliance, and collect documentation when required.
- Responsible for collecting and compiling the statistical departmental reports and inventory management including purchasing new equipment.
- Conduct reviews, performance planning, and performance management working with the manager.
- Assist with planning and executing team in-services.
- Assist with budget analysis.
- Participate in weekly meeting with Manager and any special committees or meetings as assigned.
- Respond to customer comment cards; provide feedback to Manager weekly.
- AFLCA or Canfitpro Certification
- Other specialty certification particularly Yoga Teacher Training, Aquafit Certification, NCCP, CSEP etc., is considered an asset.
- 2 years of experience in a leadership role is an asset.
- Excellent teamwork and problem solving skills is required.
- The ability to work independently, with little supervision, in a fast paced environment is critical.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) that allow adaptability to a variety of stakeholders.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Previous experience using Avocado system as asset.
