Position Summary Entry level General Labourer supports daily shop operations in a fabrication and machine‑building environment. This role involves hands‑on mechanical work, assisting tradespeople, and performing tasks related to assembly, material handling, basic machining, and equipment preparation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the fabrication and assembly of mechanical components, frames, guards, and machine structures.
- Support machine builders with mechanical assembly, alignment, and installation of parts.
- Operate basic shop equipment such as drills, grinders, saws, and pneumatic tools.
- Perform material handling, cutting, measuring, and preparation of steel components.
- Read and follow basic mechanical drawings, shop sketches, and work instructions.
- Conduct general shop labour tasks including cleaning, organizing, and staging materials for production.
- Work safely around welding, machining, and fabrication processes.
- Assist with teardown, rebuild, and testing of mechanical systems as required.
Qualifications
- Experience working in fabrication shops and machine‑building environments (required).
- Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand and power tools.
- Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and support tradespeople.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced industrial shop setting.
- Ability to lift and handle materials safely.
- Understanding of shop safety practices and PPE requirements.
