Your Opportunity:
Working under the general supervision and guidance of the FMC Senior Flow Coordinators, this position performs complex clerical duties related to patient bed allocation, admission, and direct admission and transferring of patients. The successful candidate is responsible for accurately placing admissions according to diagnosis and isolation requirements. The position serves as a point of initial contact for physicians seeking admission of patients to hospital through any of the Main, Emergency Admitting areas. Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other medical staff. Other duties include: attending daily huddle, communicating with units, unit clerks, unit managers, admitting staff and physicians, and providing guidance and work leadership to student placements. The employee shall maintain confidentiality of all AHS information in accordance with HIA, FOIP, and other privacy legislation in effect and shall comply at all times with AHS’s Information Privacy and Information Security policies.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of post-secondary education (e.g. certificate in office or business administration).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Grade 12 or equivalent required. Proficient in Connect Care. Excellent knowledge of the English language both written and oral. Able to maintain a professional image and demonstrated ability to remain calm, courteous, sensitive, and tactful. Accurate and proficient keyboarding skills of 40-50 wpm required. Demonstrated proficiency of Netscape and Windows (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access). Demonstrated ability to work well under stress and heavy workload. Must be able to prioritize on an ongoing basis. Demonstrated ability to work independently. Demonstrated effective communication skills when dealing with staff, managers, and physicians. Skilled at paying close attention to detail. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Must have availability for all shifts: days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a health care or medical office setting preferred. Prior experience working with the public is an asset. Work leadership experience is an asset.
