Lead Technician - Disaster Restoration (Calgary, AB)
We are seeking an experienced Lead Technician to join a growing disaster restoration team in Calgary, Alberta. This role is ideal for a motivated, detail-oriented professional looking to advance their career in the restoration industry while leading field crews on residential and commercial restoration projects. Ongoing training, mentorship, and industry-specific certifications are provided to support career growth.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise field crews through all phases of restoration, including demolition, cleanup, structural drying, remediation, and reconstruction support.
Conduct site assessments, determine project scope, and communicate work requirements to the Project Manager.
Ensure proper job site setup, containment, and equipment installation in accordance with industry standards and company procedures.
Operate, monitor, and maintain restoration equipment, including dehumidifiers, air movers, extractors, and negative air machines.
Perform moisture mapping, environmental monitoring, and maintain accurate project documentation.
Train and mentor Restoration Technicians and Field Assistants on best practices, equipment operation, and safety procedures.
Coordinate material deliveries, subcontractors, and daily site logistics.
Communicate professionally with property owners, insurance adjusters, and other stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with company safety policies and provincial health and safety regulations.
Inspect completed work, report progress, and escalate any issues to project management.
Maintain detailed daily reports, photographs, and site documentation.
Participate in after-hours emergency response rotations as required.
Perform other duties as assigned to support operations.
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in disaster restoration, remediation, or construction.
Previous experience leading or supervising field crews.
Strong understanding of restoration methods, building materials, and safety standards.
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and respond effectively in emergency situations.
Physically capable of lifting equipment and performing restoration work in demanding environments.
Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a clean driving abstract.
Clear criminal background check.
IICRC certifications (Water Damage Restoration, Fire & Smoke Restoration, and/or Applied Microbial Remediation) are considered a strong asset.
