Senior CNC Machinist
Location: Foothills Industrial Park, Calgary, AB — near 9705 68 St SE
Pay: $40.00–$50.00 per hour, based on experience
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM

We are hiring an experienced Senior CNC Machinist to lead CNC machining operations in a high-precision oil and gas manufacturing environment.
This is a hands-on senior role for someone with strong CNC programming, setup, tooling, and troubleshooting experience. You will be responsible for producing complex components while also helping improve machining processes, reduce cycle times and scrap, and support the development of other machinists on the team.
What You Will Do
- Set up, program, operate, and optimize CNC lathes and/or CNC mills
- Take ownership of machining processes, machine performance, part quality, and production output
- Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for complex and high-precision components
- Determine cutting parameters, tool paths, machining strategies, and workholding requirements
- Select and optimize cutting tools, inserts, fixtures, and tooling
- Perform tool wear offsets, insert changes, and tool life management
- Troubleshoot CNC programs, tooling, setups, and machining issues
- Review complex blueprints, drawings, tolerances, and technical specifications
- Complete in-process and final inspections using precision measuring equipment
- Ensure finished components meet required tolerances and specifications
- Identify the root cause of non-conforming parts and implement corrective actions
- Improve cycle times, reduce scrap, and increase overall machining efficiency
- Establish and maintain consistent machining processes and best practices
- Monitor material flow, work-in-progress, and production priorities
- Work closely with Quality Control, Engineering, and Production teams
- Mentor and train machinists and operators in programming, setup, tooling, and machining best practices
- Support onboarding and cross-training of machining team members
- Communicate production issues, machining challenges, and improvement opportunities to management
- Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient machining environment
What We Are Looking For
- Extensive CNC machining experience in a production or manufacturing environment
- Strong CNC programming and machine setup experience
- Advanced experience operating CNC lathes and/or CNC mills
- Oil and gas machining experience is required
- Experience machining complex components to tight tolerances
- Strong knowledge of tooling, inserts, cutting parameters, feeds, speeds, and machining strategies
- Ability to independently troubleshoot machining, tooling, setup, and programming issues
- Strong blueprint and technical drawing interpretation skills
- Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment
- Experience improving cycle times, reducing scrap, and optimizing machining processes
- Previous leadership, mentoring, lead-hand, or supervisory experience in a machine shop environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to safely lift and handle materials and equipment weighing up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
