JOB SUMMARY: Assist tenants to live successfully in the Assisted Living community by providing a variety of day-to-day physical, emotional and social support. Help to create an atmosphere of supported independence through partnership with tenants.
DUTIES:
- Supports tenants according to the personal service plan. Provides feedback and input regarding tenant’s needs relating to their personal service plan.
- Assists tenants with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility assistance.
- Receives tenant feedback and responds as required. Reports tenant concerns to LPN or Executive Director.
- Performs bed changes and laundering of flat linens. Laundering of tenant’s personal laundry as assigned.
- Provide medication administration and reminders in accordance with established policies.
- Completes and maintains records and documentation.
- Sets up dining room in preparations for meal service. Serves tenants lunch and dinner. Following meals, clears and cleans dining room tables and chairs.
- Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Grade 10 (including successful completion of English 10 or equivalent). High school graduation preferred.
- Successful graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Registered with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.
REQUIREMENTS
- Current and clear criminal record check.
- Current Level 1 Food Safe certificate.
- Current CPR certificate
- Current First Aid Certificate, Occupational First Aid preferred.
- Records of immunization status, including a recent clear TB test.

- Have the ability, tact, courtesy and patience to establish and maintain good interpersonal relations with tenants, staff, visitors and volunteers.
- Consistently act in a respectful manner, maintaining the spirit, dignity and individuality of tenants and their families.
- Able to multi-task and handle pressure.
- Be in good health, free from any communicable diseases, and physically and mentally able to carry out the assigned duties in the working environment.
- Be physically capable of carrying out significant amounts of lifting, bending, stooping and stretching; be able to operate related equipment.
- Be able to work in a team or independently with a minimum of supervision and be able to take initiative and to exercise mature judgment.
- Be able to speak, read, and write English, and to follow written instructions.
