The Role
We're hiring a Quality Assurance & Food Safety Manager to run, update, and take full ownership of our food safety program. You'll be the in-house authority on HACCP and CFIA/SFCR compliance, the main point of contact for regulatory and customer audits, and the person driving us toward GFSI-recognized certification (SQF, BRCGS, or FSSC 22000). This is a hands-on, single-owner role with real autonomy — ideal for someone who wants to build and lead a program, not just maintain one.
What You'll Do
- Own, maintain, and continuously improve our HACCP plan and Preventive Control Plan (PCP) under the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR)
- Serve as primary contact for CFIA inspections and our Safe Food for Canadians licence requirements
- Lead the facility through GFSI certification (SQF / BRCGS / FSSC 22000), including document preparation and on-site audit readiness
- Manage customer/retailer supplier audits and ongoing compliance documentation (e.g., grocery retail partners)
- Run sanitation verification, GMP and prerequisite programs, environmental monitoring, and allergen controls
- Own the recall and traceability program, including mock recalls
- Maintain specifications, CoAs, supplier approval, and incoming material controls
- Investigate non-conformances, customer complaints, and quality issues; drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions
- Develop and deliver food safety / GMP training for production staff
- Conduct internal audits and manage corrective action follow-up
What You Bring
- 3+ years in QA/food safety within food or beverage manufacturing
- HACCP certification (required)
- Strong working knowledge of CFIA, SFCR, and PCP requirements
- Experience preparing for or maintaining a GFSI scheme (SQF, BRCGS, or FSSC 22000) — strongly preferred
- Confident leading regulatory and third-party audits independently
- Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable owning documentation and records
- Diploma or degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field (asset)
Nice to Have
- Experience in fresh/RTE or noodle/dumpling/Asian food manufacturing
- SQF Practitioner designation
