Job Overview
El Comal is hiring three Kitchen Team Members for our Downtown Vancouver location:
- 2 full-time positions
- 1 part-time position, preferably with morning availability
This is a hands-on kitchen position that requires team members to rotate between line cooking, food preparation, dishwashing, cleaning, and general kitchen support. We are looking for reliable and hardworking people who are comfortable helping wherever needed in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and complete daily prep according to recipes and restaurant standards
- Cook and assemble menu items accurately and efficiently
- Rotate between line cook, prep cook, and dishwasher duties as required
- Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment
- Maintain clean and organized workstations, equipment, and storage areas
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety procedures
- Receive, organize, and properly store ingredients and supplies when required
- Support the kitchen team during busy service periods
- Complete opening, closing, and cleaning duties
- Perform other kitchen-related tasks as assigned
Requirements
- Previous restaurant or commercial kitchen experience is preferred
- Experience preparing Mexican food is an asset but not required
- FOODSAFE Level 1 is preferred, or willingness to obtain it
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and food safety procedures
- Reliable, punctual, organized, and comfortable working as part of a team
- Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift kitchen supplies and equipment
- Flexible availability is required for full-time positions, including mornings, evenings and weekends.
- Morning availability is strongly preferred for the part-time position
- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Position Details
- Permanent full-time and part-time positions available
- Approximately 20–40 hours per week, depending on the position
- In-person position at our Downtown Vancouver location
- Starting wage of $18.50 per hour, with opportunities for wage increases based on performance.
- Training provided
- Immediate availability is preferred
