Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Associate Lawyer with courtroom experience to join our legal team. The firm currently practices in family, criminal and real estate law. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing legal support across various practice areas, attending court for speak to matters, conferences, pretrials, hearings, motions, trials, conducting research, drafting legal documents, and assisting with negotiations. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth within a dynamic legal environment, requiring strong analytical skills, excellent writing abilities, and proficiency with legal research tools such as Can LII. The Associate Lawyer will work closely with senior attorneys to develop case strategies and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive legal research using Can Lii and other legal research platforms to support case development and legal opinions.
- Draft, review, and revise legal documents including contracts, pleadings, briefs, financial statements, net family property statements, memoranda, and correspondence with precision and clarity, using software such as Clio and Divorcemate.
- Assist in preparing for negotiations, mediations, and court proceedings by analyzing case facts and relevant laws.
- Attend court for speak tos, set dates, first appearances, conferences, pre trials,motions, and trials
- Support senior lawyer and other associate (s) in case management, including organizing case files, tracking deadlines, and maintaining client records.
- Docketing time and collecting billable hours including attending small claims court
- Participate in client meetings to gather information, provide updates, and explain legal options clearly.
- Stay informed about current developments in relevant areas of law to ensure the firm’s advice remains accurate and up-to-date.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to develop strategies that align with client goals while ensuring compliance with legal standards.
Qualifications
- LLB degree from an accredited law school Or equivalent credentials
- Admission to the LSO
- Proficiency with Can Lii or similar legal research tools.
- Strong negotiation skills demonstrated through previous experience or coursework.
- Excellent research capabilities combined with analytical thinking.
- Exceptional writing skills for drafting clear and persuasive legal documents.
- Experience in legal drafting across various document types is preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while working under tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and external partners.

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
