It’s a unique for Ottawa full time long term career opportunity for an ambitious and talented person with practical industry experience.
Bloomex is a leader in floral and gift retail in Canada, Australia and New Zealand operating under multiply brands. We operate out of 32 retail and production facility locations in 3 countries and employ more then 300 people. We operate few specialty sites selling gift baskets, cookies, cakes and chocolate primarily targeting B2C gift giving segment of the business. Right now we are buying all food items form third party suppliers in Canada, USA and Europe. We are looking to replace these products with own brands produced in our production facility in Ottawa. Production facility is scheduled to open October 2026.
Your job will be to manage daily production and delivery of orders, including planning, scheduling, managing labour and supply. You will be using existing company resources in purchasing, IT, logistics and finance. You will be responsible for hiring and managing your staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Be in charge of the business unit: full responsibility for production, staffing, purchasing coordination, quality control.
- Confectionery production: Temper, mold, and decorate artisan chocolates, truffles, and chocolate-covered treats.
- Cookie & Cakes production: Bake, assemble, and frost/decorate custom cookie cakes for special events and orders.
- Quality Control: Ensure all finished products meet our strict quality and visual standards.
- Sanitation: Maintain a spotless, health-code-compliant workspace, adhering to all food safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in a bakery, commercial kitchen, or chocolate-making environment.
- Proficiency with chocolate tempering, ganaches, and baking cookie cakes.
- Creative flair and basic cake decorating skills (e.g., piping buttercream).
- Management experience
- Ability to handle pressure and work under tight deadlines

Pay: $54,851.47-$120,810.63 per year
