About the role
We are seeking a hands-on, technically skilled Maintenance Supervisor to lead all maintenance operations at our hotel property. You will ensure a zero-defect physical environment for guests and staff, overseeing all mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, pool, and life safety systems while leading a dedicated maintenance team.
1. Shift Leadership & Daily Operations
- Lead and direct maintenance staff on assigned shift, coordinating task assignments, work order priorities, and workflow.
- Serve as the senior maintenance presence escalating significant repairs or safety concerns.
- Perform hands-on maintenance alongside the team, setting standards for quality and work ethic; monitor performance and coach staff as needed.
2. Preventive & Reactive Maintenance
- Complete assigned preventive maintenance per established schedules covering guest rooms, public areas, mechanical systems, and equipment.
- Respond promptly to guest and staff maintenance requests; carry out repairs within scope and keep the Front Desk informed of room status.
- Perform general repairs: plumbing, electrical (within permitted scope), HVAC filters, carpentry, painting, drywall, furniture, and hardware.
- Conduct shift inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house; document and action or escalate deficiencies. Assist with seasonal duties (snow removal, groundskeeping, exterior upkeep).
3. Building Systems & Equipment
- Support with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems; flag issues beyond in-house capability for contractor referral.
- Support pool maintenance including water chemistry monitoring and equipment checks per Ontario Public Health standards.
- Maintain kitchen and housekeeping equipment through routine checks; report failures to the Maintenance Manager for contractor coordination.
4. Work Orders, Reporting & Communication
- Receive, action, and close work orders accurately and in a timely manner; maintain clear shift handover notes for incoming shift and management.
- Report all unresolved issues and hazards to the with clear descriptions, locations, and recommended actions.
5. Health, Safety & Compliance
- Follow all health and safety procedures including PPE use and WHMIS requirements; identify and report hazards without delay.
- Ensure shift staff adhere to safety standards; support fire safety checks, life safety tests, and JHSC activities as directed.
- Ensure work complies with applicable Ontario legislation: Occupational Health & Safety Act, Ontario Building Code, and Fire Protection and Prevention Act.
6. Inventory, Tools & Supplies
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and security of the maintenance workshop, tool storage, and supply rooms.
- Monitor inventory levels; report restocking needs and receive/verify supply deliveries as directed. Perform other duties as reasonably assigned.
7. Guest Experience & ICARE Culture
- Respond to all guest-reported maintenance issues with urgency, professionalism, and genuine care; confirm resolution with the Front Desk to close the loop with the guest
- Conduct all maintenance activities in or near occupied guest rooms and public spaces with minimal disruption and maximum consideration for the guest experience

- All other duties assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Secondary school diploma required; post-secondary in Facilities Management, Building Systems Technology, or related trade preferred
- Minimum 3 years of progressive maintenance experience in a hotel, resort, or commercial facility
- At least 2 years in a supervisory or management capacity
- Hands-on expertise across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, pool operations, and general construction/renovation
- Working knowledge of Ontario Building Code, OHSA, TSSA regulations, Fire Protection and Prevention Act, and Health Protection and Promotion Act
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with CMMS or work order platforms is an asset
- Physically able to stand, walk, climb, lift, and work in mechanical rooms, on rooftops, and in confined/elevated spaces
- Must be available on-call for after-hours emergencies, weekends, and statutory holidays as required
- Must be willing to complete and provide a police background check certificate

- Certified Pool Operator
- WHMIS 2015 Certification
- Standard First Aid & CPR/AED (Level C)
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence
- Fire Safety Plan Awareness Training
- Carbon Monoxide & Gas Detection Safety
Pay: $21.00-$23.00 per hour
