Food and Conference Services – Seasonal Part time COOK

St Peter’s is a Catholic Seminary of the Diocese of London, providing education programs for those preparing for priesthood, permanent diaconate, and lay ministry. We are looking for an experienced cook who demonstrates excellent customer service skills and has a passion for cooking.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Manager, the Cook will take personal satisfaction in preparing meals in a productive and hospitable environment to students, faculty, resident priests, staff, and guests. The role covers a broad set of responsibilities focusing on the assembly, preparing, and producing Lunch, and Dinner, including, but not limited to Breakfast.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years cooking experience in a residential, university establishment.
- Food Safety practices, Cooking/Culinary Diploma (Red Seal Certificate preferred), must have Food handlers Certificate.
Skills and Requirements:
- Demonstrated organizational skills with ability to comprehend verbal/written instructions.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and collaboratively in a team environment and build healthy partnerships with clients, peers, and managers.
- Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize workload demands in a timely manner.
- Health and physical condition consistent with bending, prolonged standing, walking, lifting to 20 kg., and movement of equipment as required.
- Have extensive knowledge of food product information, including food restricted diets, cook nutritional/palatable meals in large quantities (25 - 85 people)
- Maintain kitchen/food service standards in all aspects of cooking, cleanliness, storing, accepting, and storing deliveries.
- Demonstrated professional appearance and can handle repetitive tasks required in a large volume operation.
- Cook Shift, 9:30am – 6pm, every other weekend, every other Thursday and Friday, plus covering vacation/sick time when required, stat holidays. May be required to work as early as 7am.
Employment is conditional upon successful completion of criminal record checks and favorable reference checks. Our part-time employees receive 12% in lieu of benefits in addition to the posted rate.
