MSB Mechanical is a leading unionized mechanical contractor in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), providing commercial service and construction solutions for heating, cooling, gas, and hydronic systems across complex facilities, including mission-critical buildings and data centres.
MSB Mechanical is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of HVAC Technician-Union.
The HVAC Technician is responsible for the installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The successful candidate will ensure the reliable operation of equipment, identify and resolve technical issues, and provide exceptional customer service while adhering to safety standards, industry regulations, and client requirements.This position is ideal for a motivated, detail-oriented professional with strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
Key Responsibilities :
- Perform field service work on commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and hydronic systems
- Lead refrigeration and cooling service activities for data centres and mission-critical facilities
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain RTUs, MUAs, AHUs, boilers, chillers, and hydronic systems
- Assist with repair quotations, pricing, and preventative maintenance recommendations
- Provide exceptional customer service and maintain clear communication with clients regarding completed work and system performance
- Coordinate daily activities with the service department and management team
- Complete electronic work orders, service reports, and documentation using tablets and mobile devices
- Support construction crews during equipment installations, tie-ins, commissioning, and start-ups
- Work safely in occupied and mission-critical environments with zero-downtime expectations and strict permit requirements
Qualifications & Requirements :
- Valid Ontario G Driver's Licence
- Valid G1 Gas Technician Licence
- Valid 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic Licence (required)
- WHMIS and Working at Heights certifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience servicing commercial HVAC equipment, including RTUs, MUAs, AHUs, boilers, and hydronic systems
- Strong experience with hydronic heating systems and commercial boilers
- Experience with power burners and large commercial mechanical equipment
- Experience working in data centres or mission-critical facilities is considered a strong asset
- Familiarity with CRAH/CRAC units, in-row cooling systems, chilled water systems, and DX equipment
- Knowledge of redundant N+1 and 2N systems and zero-downtime maintenance procedures
- Experience with BAS/BMS platforms such as Delta, Siemens, Honeywell, or Schneider Electric
- Previous experience leading technicians or performing foreman-level responsibilities
- Experience assisting with repair quotations and preventative maintenance contracts
- Comfortable using digital service software, mobile applications, and electronic reporting systems
