Own the full commercial cycle of custom manufacturing work, from opportunity identification and estimating through to quote conversion and internal handoff. This technical sales and estimating role blends real knowledge of architectural metals and manufacturing with the commercial skill to develop accounts, price work accurately, and manage a disciplined quote pipeline. Equally comfortable on a job site or in a client meeting, working closely with shop leadership to keep quoted work feasible, profitable, and on scope.
Sales & Account Development
- Identify custom manufacturing opportunities across commercial, industrial, OEM & architectural markets
- Build relationships with trades, architects, owners & industrial buyers
- Develop repeat, margin-positive accounts
- Conduct site visits and client meetings across the Edmonton region
Estimating & Quoting
- Produce accurate quotes from drawings, photos, site notes, or verbal descriptions
- Own the full quote cycle: prep, submission, follow-up, close
- Collaborate with shop leadership on feasibility & pricing
- Flag scope, margin, or buildability concerns early
Pipeline, Reporting & Coordination
- Maintain CRM discipline; report on WIP, conversion & margin
- Track win/loss outcomes to sharpen targeting
- Communicate requirements clearly to shop & operations teams
Required
- 5+ years in custom fabrication, metal manufacturing, architectural/miscellaneous metals, or industrial fabrication with estimating or customer-facing sales responsibility
- CET diploma or similar formal training an asset
- Able to estimate custom metal scopes from drawings, field notes, or descriptions
- Credible with trades, architects, owners & industrial purchasing contacts
- Understands how custom metal work is made
- Gross margin awareness & CRM/pipeline discipline
- Proficient with estimating tools, MS Office, and quoting/project management software
- Valid driver's license and operational vehicle
Assets
- Existing network in Edmonton/Alberta construction, industrial, or architectural metals markets
- Familiarity with Alberta building standards, cladding & envelope systems
- Job costing software experience
- Post-secondary in construction management, engineering technology, or business is considered an asset.
