Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Apprentice Mechanic to join our automotive service team. This entry-level position offers hands-on experience in vehicle repair and maintenance, providing a valuable foundation for a career in the automotive industry. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, possesses basic mechanical skills, and has a strong work ethic. Prior dealership experience and familiarity with automotive systems are a plus but not required. This role involves working closely with seasoned mechanics to develop technical expertise and customer service skills in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Assist experienced mechanics with vehicle repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance tasks
- Use hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to perform repairs and assembly
- Interpret schematics and technical manuals to understand vehicle systems
- Conduct heavy lifting of parts and equipment safely during repair procedures
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as fluid changes, tire rotations, and inspections
- Support the disassembly and reassembly of vehicle components following manufacturer specifications
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure safety and efficiency
- Learn to diagnose mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and schematics
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating repair status and findings when appropriate
Qualifications
- Previous dealership experience or mechanic experience is preferred but not mandatory
- Basic knowledge of automotive repair principles and mechanical systems
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, welding, and schematics is advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely (up to 50 pounds)
- Strong interest in automotive maintenance, repair, and learning new skills
- Good communication skills with a focus on customer service
- Ability to follow instructions carefully and work effectively as part of a team
- Willingness to work in a hands-on environment that requires physical effort and attention to detail
