Job Summary
This role contributes to the MHRA Hospitality success by managing the full lifecycle of restaurant development and renovation projects, from design and permitting through construction and turnover. Reporting to the Director of Construction, the position ensures all Stacked, Holy Chuck, and YLK & Batter locations are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with brand standards, quality expectations, and operational requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The duties and responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
Project Planning & Design
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, designers, and other consultants throughout the design development process.
- Review and redline drawings to ensure alignment between design intent, operational requirements, and permit submissions.
- Manage project timelines and design deliverables to support development schedules.
Permitting & Approvals
- Obtain landlord approvals and required documentation for permit submissions.
- Oversee the permit application process in collaboration with consultants and regulatory authorities.
- Liaise with landlords, municipalities, and consultants to resolve design, zoning, and code compliance issues.
- Ensure all landlord and municipal approvals are secured prior to site possession and construction commencement.
Construction Management
- Manage the general contractor tendering process, including bid reviews, contractor evaluations, and award recommendations.
- Coordinate vendor quoting and procurement for signage, POS systems, equipment, and smallware’s.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
- Lead weekly construction meetings to review project status, schedules, quality standards, and risk mitigation plans.
- Monitor project budgets and schedules, proactively addressing delays, cost overruns, and construction challenges.
- Ensure all work, materials, finishes, and equipment meet brand standards and construction specifications.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, safety, and compliance.
Project Closeout & Turnover
- Coordinate inspections, deficiency reviews, occupancy approvals, and project closeout activities.
- Facilitate seamless turnover of completed locations to Operations and Franchise Partners to support opening readiness.
- Obtain and maintain project closeout documentation, including as-built drawings, warranties, and contractor manuals.
- Support franchisees with documentation required for tenant allowance and landlord reimbursement submissions.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Provide regular project updates to franchisees, senior leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Development, Operations, Marketing, and Training teams to ensure successful project execution and openings.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication between internal teams, contractors, consultants, and vendors.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for franchisees on construction-related matters throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
- Diploma or certificate in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience in commercial construction, preferably within the restaurant (QSR), hospitality, or retail sectors.
- Demonstrated success managing multiple construction projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, permitting processes, municipal approvals, and construction contracts.
- Experience coordinating consultants, contractors, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
- Excellent organizational, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to effectively manage project budgets, schedules, and risks.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites across Canada as required.

Pay: $80,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
