Position Summary
Steelcon is seeking motivated and safety-focused Yard Material Handlers to join our weekend operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe movement, storage, organization, and loading of structural steel materials within the yard. Candidates must have basic training and operating experience withforklifts and Combi-Liftsand demonstrate a strong commitment to workplace safety.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely operate forklifts, Combi-Lifts, and other material handling equipment.
- Load, unload, move, and stage structural steel products and materials throughout the yard.
- Organize and maintain inventory locations to support production and shipping requirements.
- Assist with preparing and loading customer shipments according to work orders and schedules.
- Conduct pre-operational inspections of equipment and report any maintenance concerns.
- Ensure materials are properly identified, stored, and secured.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard environment.
- Follow all company health and safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
- Assist with inventory counts and material verification as required.
- Work collaboratively with production, shipping, and yard teams to meet operational goals.
Qualifications
- Experience operating a forklift and/or Combi-Lift in an industrial, manufacturing, or construction environment.
- Basic forklift and Combi-Lift training/certification.
- Ability to safely handle large, heavy, and oversized steel materials.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.
- Previous experience in a structural steel, fabrication, manufacturing, or construction environment.
- Knowledge of rigging and safe load handling practices.
- Experience with inventory management and shipping documentation.
Location, Shift, Hours of Work & Working Conditions
- Location: 615 Rusholme Rd, Welland, ON L3B 5N7
- Weekend Shift ONLY - Friday, Saturday & Sunday from 5:30 am to 5:15 pm
- May be required to work additional hours based on plant needs
- Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to heat, noise, dust, and industrial equipment.
- Requires standing, lifting, and walking throughout the shift.
