Position Summary Human Resources supports day‑to‑day HR operations across a fast‑paced nut and seed butter manufacturing environment. This role provides hands‑on support to production, warehouse, sanitation, quality, and administrative teams across two facilities. HR owns, recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, payroll, and HR administration while ensuring compliance with employment legislation, WorkSafeBC requirements, and food‑safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Recruitment & Onboarding
- full-cycle recruitment for production, warehouse, shipping/receiving, sanitation, quality assurance, and administrative roles.
- Develop job postings, screen applicants, conduct interviews, and support hiring managers in selection decisions.
- Facilitate onboarding, orientation, and training schedules for new hires, ensuring compliance with food safety, GMP, and workplace safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate employee files and onboarding documentation.
2. Employee Relations
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries, concerns, and workplace issues.
- Support conflict resolution, coach supervisors on effective communication, and promote a positive work environment.
- Assist in developing employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and retention strategies.
- Conduct exit interviews to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
3. HR Administration & Compliance
- Maintain HRIS records, attendance tracking, and personnel documentation in accordance with company policies and legislative requirements.
- Support payroll preparation by ensuring accurate timekeeping, shift differentials, and attendance data.
- Ensure compliance with provincial and federal employment laws, WorkSafeBC requirements, and internal policies.
- Assist with audits related to HR, food safety, and health & safety programs.
- Respond to payroll inquiries confidentially and professionally.
- Assist providing paystubs, T4 and employee letters.
- Communicate benefit plan details and updates to employees.
- Review, collect, and update timesheets, attendance, vacation balances, and sick leave records.
4. Health, Safety & Food Safety Support - Required
- Collaborate with the Health & Safety team to support safety training, incident reporting, modified work programs, and return to work coordination.
- Ensure employees follow GMPs, allergen control procedures, sanitation protocols, and food safety standards required in nut and seed butter production.
- Participate in safety committee meetings and support corrective actions.
5. Training & Performance Support
- Support supervisors and managers in conducting performance reviews, documenting performance concerns, and implementing improvement plans.
- Track training requirements for food safety, WHMIS, equipment operation, and job specific competencies.
- Assist in developing training materials and coordinating cross training initiatives to support operational flexibility.
6. Workforce Planning & Operational Support
- Assist with scheduling, staffing forecasts, and labor planning for production lines, packaging operations, and warehouse functions.
- Monitor staffing levels to support peak production periods, private label orders, and seasonal demand.
- Work closely with operations leadership to identify skill gaps and support succession planning.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience with Ceridian and MS Office is a must.
- 1–3 years of HR experience, preferably in manufacturing or food production.
- Knowledge of employment legislation and WorkSafeBC requirements.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
- CPHR candidate is an asset.
