Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Educator to join our team. This role involves fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children, supporting their developmental milestones, and promoting a love for learning. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, strong classroom management skills, and a deep understanding of childhood development principles. Responsibilities
- Picking up and dropping off to and from school
- Develop and implement engaging curriculum plans tailored to various age groups, including toddlers and preschoolers
- Create a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning
- Manage daily classroom activities, including lesson planning, behavior management, and routine supervision
- Support children's social-emotional development through effective behavior management strategies
- Conduct assessments of children's progress using standardized testing methods when appropriate
- Collaborate with parents and guardians to discuss developmental milestones and educational progress
- Incorporate literacy education, math, physical education, and Montessori methods into daily activities
- Provide specialized support for children requiring early intervention or special education services
- Maintain accurate documentation related to child welfare, attendance, and developmental assessments
- Ensure compliance with all childcare regulations and standards for early childhood education
Skills
- Class 5/ Class 4 Alberta's driving License
- Completion of Early childhood Certification/Diploma
- Vulnerable sector police clearance (Edmonton)
- Valid first aid certification
- Extensive knowledge of childhood development theories and practices
- Experience with curriculum development across various educational areas such as literacy, math, physical education, and special education
- Strong classroom management skills with the ability to handle diverse behaviors effectively
- Experience working with children in daycare, preschool, or private school settings
- Familiarity with Montessori methods and early intervention strategies is a plus
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with children, parents, and colleagues
- Ability to plan lessons that cater to different learning styles and developmental needs
- Experience in tutoring or teaching physical education is advantageous
- Knowledge of standardized testing procedures relevant to early childhood assessment
- Child welfare awareness and commitment to creating a safe learning environment
