Overview
Hitachi Construction Truck Manufacturing Ltd. (HTM) is a subsidiary of Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. (HCM) which produces and sells world-class products for the mining and the construction industries. HTM is a manufacturing company that builds and supplies various sizes of rigid frame dump trucks from 280 to 320 tons payload to HCM. HTM also supplies spare parts for HCM’s dealer network. HTM’s operation center is located in Guelph, Ontario.
HTM is currently recruiting for a “Design Engineer – FEA” position to add to their team of professionals. This role reports to the Sr. Manager of Technical Analysis team. The Design Engineer will utilize his/her extensive knowledge in performing design of structural components such as chassis, rear axles, etc. for off-highway mobile machinery; In addition to performing stress and fatigue analysis and to investigate failure analysis.
Responsibilities
- Conceive multi-solution designs for critical and complex systems following departmental and industry standards and specifications.
- Prepare 3D layouts, 2D drawings and analysis reports.
- Make complex calculations using specialized software methods and compare them to actual test results.
- Prepare necessary engineering documentation including design document with detail calculation, EBOMs, MBOMs and maintain records of work completed.
- Coordinate with other departments and support functions as required.
- Prepare service bulletins.
- Participate in design reviews and be prepared to discuss or provide feedback on design proposals.
- Provide regular reporting to Sr. Manager of Technical Analysis team.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- University Degree - Completion in Mechanical Engineering bachelor degree or above.
- Professional Engineer – Registered with PEO Designation.
- Minimum 4 years working experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is preferred.
- FEA Experience – Familiar with Hyperworks/Optistruct and LS_DYNA. Other FEA software experience will also be considered.
- CAD Experience– Familiar with NX 3D modeling and 2D drafting software. Other CAD experiences will also be considered.
- Good knowledge in mechanical engineering design of off-highway mobile machinery with in-depth understanding on Solid Mechanics and fatigue life of design.
- Exceptional capability in creating free body diagram and performing stress analysis.
- Strong written and communication coupled with solid liaison skills.
- Able to work effectively both in team environment and independently.

Pay: $90,000.00-$99,000.00 per year
