The Talent Acquisition Specialist plays a critical role in supporting MaKami College's continued growth by attracting, engaging, and hiring talented professionals who are aligned with the College's mission, values, and commitment to student success. This position is responsible for managing the full recruitment lifecycle, building strong candidate pipelines, and partnering with hiring managers to identify and secure top talent across academic, administrative, and operational functions. Through effective talent acquisition strategies and a commitment to delivering an exceptional candidate experience, the Recruiter helps ensure MaKami College has the skilled and passionate workforce needed to achieve its strategic goals and support excellence in education across its Calgary and Edmonton campuses.
Key Accountabilities (key duties & desired outcomes):

Partner with hiring managers, department leaders, and campus administrators to understand current and future staffing requirements.

Develop customized recruitment strategies to attract qualified candidates across academic, administrative, student services, and corporate functions.

Create compelling and engaging job advertisements that accurately reflect role requirements and promote MaKami College's employer brand.

Manage job postings across multiple platforms, including job boards, social media channels, professional networks, educational institutions, and industry-specific recruitment sites.

Proactively source passive and active candidates using networking, direct outreach, referrals, online sourcing tools, and social recruiting techniques.

Conduct resume reviews, phone screenings, virtual interviews, and candidate assessments to evaluate qualifications, skills, and cultural fit.

Present qualified candidate shortlists to hiring managers, providing detailed insights and recommendations to support hiring decisions.

Coordinate and facilitate interviews while ensuring positive and professional experience for candidates and hiring teams.

Maintain continuous communication with candidates throughout the recruitment process, ensuring transparency and timely updates.

Build and maintain talent pipelines for current and future workforce needs.

Manage and maintain applicant records within the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), ensuring accuracy, compliance, and effective reporting.

Coordinate reference checks, background verification processes, and employment documentation.

Prepare offer letters and support salary discussions in collaboration with Human Resources and hiring managers.

Ensure recruitment activities align with applicable employment legislation, privacy requirements, and company policies.

Assist with onboarding coordination to create a seamless transition from candidate to employee.

Promote equitable, diverse, and inclusive hiring practices that support MaKami College's commitment to creating an inclusive workplace

Support the development and implementation of recruitment policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Communications, or a related discipline preferred.

Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation or progress toward certification is an asset.

Recruitment marketing or employer branding certification considered an asset.

Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certification in Excel, Outlook, or Microsoft 365 is considered an asset.
Experience:

2-5 years of progressive recruitment or talent acquisition experience.

Experience managing full-cycle recruitment processes in a high-volume or fast-paced environment.

Experience recruiting across multiple business functions, including academic, administrative, operational, and leadership positions.

Strong understanding of sourcing strategies, interviewing techniques, and candidate assessment practices.

Experience using Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), HRIS platforms, LinkedIn Recruiter, and other recruitment technologies.

Knowledge of Alberta employment standards and recruitment best practices.

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.

Excellent communicator with a strong command of the English language (both verbal and written)
