Caribbean Restaurant Kitchen Manager – Job Description Position Summary The Kitchen Manager is responsible for leading the daily operations of the Caribbean restaurant kitchen, ensuring exceptional food quality, authentic preparation, consistency, cleanliness, food safety, cost control, and the development of the culinary team. Key Responsibilities • Supervise and coordinate all daily kitchen operations and food production. • Prepare and cook authentic Caribbean dishes, including grains, starches, vegetables, soups, sauces, and traditional specialties. • Properly season, marinate, prepare, and cook poultry, seafood, meats, and other proteins using traditional Caribbean herbs, spices, and seasonings. • Maintain consistency in recipes, portion sizes, flavor profiles, and food presentation. • Develop production schedules and ensure timely preparation and service of all menu items. • Understand the proper use, scheduling, operation, and maintenance of kitchen equipment. • Monitor proper cooking temperatures, cooling, reheating, and food holding procedures according to food safety standards. • Ensure proper receiving, labeling, dating, rotation (FIFO), and storage of all food products. • Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, preparation, and storage areas at all times. • Manage inventory, ordering, supplier relationships, food costs, waste reduction, and labor efficiency. • Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and mentor kitchen employees. • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, sanitation, and HACCP regulations. • Work collaboratively with front-of-house management to provide excellent guest service. • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Restaurant Owner, General Manager, or management team. Qualifications • Minimum 3–5 years of kitchen leadership or management experience. • Strong knowledge of Caribbean cuisine, ingredients, seasonings, and cooking techniques. • Knowledge of food cost control, inventory management, and kitchen operations. • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. • Food Safety Certification is considered an asset.
