A. About CATIE
CATIE is Canada’s source for HIV and hepatitis C information, and so much more. We increase knowledge about sexual health and substance use, we build the capacity of service providers to deliver prevention, testing and treatment services, and we promote policies and programs proven to work based on research, practice and lived experience.
B. Primary Role
The Specialist, Multilingual Resource Development has three (3) key responsibilities, including: (1) coordination and implementation of CATIE’s Ontario Immigrant and Newcomer Hepatitis C Education and Outreach Program; (2) coordinating the development of multilingual viral hepatitis and HIV knowledge products for clients and service providers; (3) providing program support to the Knowledge Mobilization Team. The position is supervised by the Senior Manager, Immigrant Health and Multilingual Programming.
The location of this position is flexible and can be full-time remote or hybrid with some work from the CATIE office in Toronto. The candidate must live within commuting distance to Toronto as regular travel within the Greater Toronto Area is required.
C. Responsibilities
Job Responsibility #1: Supporting the implementation of the Ontario Immigrant and Newcomer Hepatitis C Program (50%)
1. Supports the maintenance and development of new partnerships with key newcomer health and settlement organizations, networks and service providers who work with Chinese, Filipino and South Asian immigrants and newcomers to promote viral hepatitis education, awareness and linkage to care among Ontario immigrant and newcomer communities.
2. Coordinates and trains a team of community facilitators to support the delivery of in-language viral hepatitis workshops and translation of resources.
3. Implements the community education and outreach component of the Ontario Immigrant and Newcomer Hepatitis C Program in collaboration with community partners and with the support of Community Facilitators.
4. Supports the implementation of the integrated Communications and KTE programming of the Ontario Hepatitis C Immigrant & Newcomer Program, including updating social media platforms.
5. Monitors the performance of social media campaigns and content, utilizing analytics tools to track engagement, reach, and other relevant metrics.
6. Generates regular reports and insights to assess the effectiveness of strategies and make data-driven improvements.
7. Maintains close relationships with ethnic media organizations and health education networks in Ontario to spotlight health and viral hepatitis issues in immigrant and newcomer communities.
8. Writes content on viral hepatitis among immigrants and newcomers for ethnic media organizations.
Job Responsibility #2: Support the development and maintenance of CATIE’s multilingual resource collection (35%)
1. Collaborates with CATIE’s KE Teams to support visioning, development and production of multilingual KE resources and products.
2. Coordinates the translation and review of content to ensure accuracy, cultural sensitivity and consistency of messaging across languages.
3. Collaborates with the Communications Team to develop and implement a comprehensive on-going promotion plan for CATIE's multilingual resources by identifying key target demographics and tailoring promotional approaches to effectively engage each audience.
4. Regularly coordinates the review of CATIE’s multilingual knowledge products to ensure they are up-todate and accurate.
Job Responsibility #3: Provides programming Support to the Hepatitis C KE Team (15%)
1. Processes invoices and ensures timely payments.
2. Updates programmatic outputs and outcomes within CATIE’s Central Database in a timely and efficient manner.
3. Facilitates partners’ requests for CATIE resources with the Specialist, Resource Access;
4. Provides coordination and administrative support for other Hepatitis C KE Team projects.
D. Requirements Knowledge and Skills
1. Graduate level education and experience in health sciences, public health, adult education or a related discipline.
2. Excellent project management skills and experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders to coordinate/support program delivery.
3. Demonstrated commitment to the values and principles that support immigrant and newcomer health.
This includes social determinants of health framework that recognizes the social and systemic level issues that affect the health of immigrants and newcomers in Canada.
4. Demonstrated ability to work independently, to set priorities and work schedules to meet deadlines, and the ability to be tactful, discreet, and sensitive to confidential matters.
5. Experience working with a web-based content management system is an asset.
6. Knowledge of and experience working / volunteering in hepatitis C issues in the Canadian context is highly desirable.
7. Knowledge of CATIE’s mandate, program direction and service philosophy to support development and implementation of program management.
8. Superior written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills.
9. Written and spoken competency in one or more of the core languages of the Ontario Immigrant and Newcomer Hepatitis C Program. (Urdu, Punjabi, Chinese, Filipino)
10.The ability and willingness to travel provincially within the Greater Toronto Area and to work some evenings and/or weekends.
