Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Dispatch Assistant/Dispatcher to join our logistics team. This role is vital in coordinating transportation activities, managing freight shipments, and ensuring efficient communication across supply chain operations. Duties
- Coordinate and schedule freight shipments using transportation management systems such as SyteLine and AS400.
- Manage shipping & receiving processes, ensuring timely dispatch and delivery of goods.
- Utilize data entry skills to accurately record shipment details, tracking information, and inventory updates.
- Communicate effectively with carriers, vendors, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems and professional phone etiquette.
- Analyze shipping data to identify efficiency improvements and troubleshoot issues related to freight or supply chain disruptions.
- Maintain organized records of dispatch activities, shipment statuses, and related documentation.
- Assist with supply chain coordination for third-party logistics (3PL) providers and internal departments.
- Support shipping & receiving operations by verifying freight documentation and ensuring compliance with company policies.
Qualifications
- Proven experience with transportation management systems such as SyteLine or AS400 is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain processes, freight operations, and shipping & receiving procedures.
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy; proficiency in typing and using multi-line phone systems.
- Analytical skills to interpret shipment data and identify operational improvements.
- Effective communication skills with professional phone etiquette for interacting with carriers, vendors, and team members.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with 3PL logistics operations is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.
