We're looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper / Accounting Administrator to become an integral part of our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership of the day-to-day accounting functions of a growing business and takes pride in maintaining accurate financial records.
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you'll play a key role in keeping our financial operations running smoothly while supporting the continued growth of the company.
Responsibilities
- Perform full-cycle bookkeeping
- Enter and reconcile daily banking transactions
- Complete monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Prepare and process payroll accurately and on time
- Prepare and remit payroll source deductions, HST returns, and other government remittances
- Maintain the general ledger and supporting schedules
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Prepare reports and supporting documentation for management and external accountants
- Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies
- Assist with other accounting and administrative duties as required
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who has:
- Minimum 5 years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience
- Strong understanding of Canadian accounting principles
- Experience processing payroll and government remittances
- Experience preparing HST filings
- Excellent bank reconciliation skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP is considered a strong asset
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating with a team
- Professional, trustworthy, and highly confidential approach to financial information
