Role
The role of this position is to provide support to the construction and paving operations of the job and the team through the operation of a power paver, skid steer, roller, packer and general labour on hand tools. This role provides competitive industry wages in the range of $28 to $34 based on experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform all duties assigned by Manager and Foreman
- Team Support: Asphalt raking & compaction, concrete forming &finishing
- Operate equipment for roadwork construction at various jobsites
- Manage project timelines and ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Follow detailed instructions and ensure team compliance.
- Interpret and understand construction drawings and plans.
- Operate and maintain construction equipment, including laser levels and grading tools.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulations.
- Communicate effectively with team members, clients and management.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise on-site.
- Maintain accurate records of project progress and materials used.
Qualifications and Skills
- Valid Ontario Class G2 Driver's License or better with a clean driver abstract
- Experience on a construction crew
- A willingness to learn construction skills and the road building trade
- Experience operating construction equipment
- Strong problem solving skills and communication to resolve and troubleshoot
- Ability to work in a cohesive team
- Training provided.
- Reliable transportation to and from the yard which is not on a bus route.
