About HeliumDeploy
HeliumDeploy (heliumdeploy.com) is a profitable Bitcoin-mining hardware company serving thousands of home miners across North America and Europe. We're bringing our first in-house hardware product to production — a compact, high-performance ASIC Bitcoin miner (~275 W) — and we're looking for a senior engineer to take the board through layout, fabrication, and bring-up.
The role
The circuit design is largely complete. You'll own the hardest and most important stretch: turning a dense, high-power schematic into a manufacturable, thermally sound board and getting the first units running on the bench.
- PCB layout (the core of the job): a power-dense, multi-domain board carrying several ~40 A rails. You'll handle heavy-copper power planes, multi-phase buck regulator placement and routing, tight cooler spacing, and via-stitched thermal paths under a large ASIC array. Plan for two to three fabrication iterations.
- Design close-out: finalize the microcontroller-to-ASIC interfaces, power sequencing and monitoring, regulator addressing/configuration, and input protection.
- Fabrication package: run ERC/DRC, produce clean fab and assembly outputs, and drive a quick-turn PCB-assembly loop.
- Bring-up and validation: power the board up, verify regulator telemetry over PMBus, flash and validate the ESP32 firmware, and run bench thermal validation (thermocouple measurement, 30-minute soak, junction temperature under 85 °C).
Must-haves
- Shipped high-current PCB layouts (rails above ~30 A): multi-phase buck regulators, heavy copper, and serious thermal management
- Strong KiCad proficiency (this project is built in KiCad and stays in KiCad)
- Power-supply bring-up experience: PMBus/SMBus, TI TPS546-class multi-phase regulators, and load testing
- Comfortable working independently against a spec, iterating fast, and doing hands-on bench work in the Montreal area
Nice-to-haves
- ESP32 / ESP-IDF firmware experience
- Bitcoin-mining or ASIC hardware background
- Design-for-manufacturing experience with quick-turn PCB assembly
Engagement
Approximately a 2–3 month contract to first validated prototype, with contract-to-hire possible. Immediate start. Hybrid in Montreal preferred (bench time required); strong Quebec-based remote candidates considered. Competitive hourly or daily rate — tell us yours. You'll work directly with the founder, with zero bureaucracy and your name on a product that ships to a real customer base.
Pay: $81,064.86-$161,702.46 per year
