Cornerstone Co-op is hiring an Associate Director of Building, Ag & Energy located in either St. Paul, AB or Vermilion, AB. Housing may be available. This position will oversee the strategic leadership, financial accountability, operational excellence, business growth and people leadership in Gas Bars, Home Centres, Petroleum, and Sales teams. This full-time leadership role reports to the Director of Operations.
What you’ll do:
Develop and execute the annual strategic plan for the Building, Ag & Energy Divisions, including Home Centres, Gas Bars, Petroleum Bulk Plants, Cardlock operations, and the Agro/Petroleum Sales team. Lead, coach, and support Managers and Team Leaders in achieving divisional and corporate objectives.
In partnership with the Director of Operations, achieve annual sales, margin, expense, inventory, working capital, and EBITDA targets by developing and managing operating budgets, capital plans, and business strategies.
Lead growth initiatives, including same-store sales, customer acquisition, commercial sales expansion, capital projects, acquisitions, new market opportunities, and facility development.
Provide strategic leadership for Home Centre and Energy operations, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, environmental stewardship, exceptional customer service, and profitable merchandising.
Build strong relationships with customers, vendors, community partners, and industry stakeholders while promoting Cornerstone Co-op's value proposition.
Participate as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to corporate strategy, succession planning, and enterprise-wide initiatives.
Partner with Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, Asset Protection, Facilities, and Health & Safety to drive financial performance, talent development, risk management, regulatory compliance, capital planning, and operational excellence.
Champion innovation, continuous improvement, and technology adoption to improve efficiency, enhance customer experience, and support sustainable business growth.
Lead fuel pricing strategies in partnership with FCL.
Provide leadership and oversight for National Safety Code (NSC) compliance across the division, ensuring all commercial transportation activities meet applicable federal and provincial legislation. This includes accountability for driver qualification files, vehicle maintenance and inspections, hours of service, transportation safety practices, and continuous compliance with regulatory requirements.

Who you are:
You have a minimum of 5-7 years experience in Home Centre and or Petroleum or other related commodities within a competitive, complex, and rapidly evolving environment is required.
Experience managing multiple sites or locations is required.
Related post-secondary education in Business or Marketing is preferred.
You can successfully complete a pre-employment background screening, including a criminal record check and credit check.
You have a valid Class 5 driver’s license and can provide a satisfactory 5-year standard driver’s abstract.
You can successfully complete a required pre-employment substance test.
You’re an experienced communicator engaging with many different stakeholders in a fast-paced retail-focused environment.
