Guillotine Operator
Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Guillotine Operator to join our print manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining a POLAR 137 programmable guillotine cutter to produce high-quality printed materials according to customer and production specifications. This role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate the POLAR 137 programmable guillotine cutter with precision to accurately trim printed materials according to job specifications.
- Read and interpret job tickets, production specifications, blueprints, and technical drawings to determine cutting requirements.
- Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct quality control inspections to ensure finished products meet customer specifications and company quality standards.
- Set up and adjust the cutting machine using hand tools and other equipment as required.
- Monitor cutting accuracy throughout production runs and make adjustments as needed.
- Coordinate closely with the folding department to ensure jobs are properly prepared, sequenced, and transferred between cutting and folding operations, while communicating any issues or special requirements.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain an organized, clean, and safe work environment.
- Follow all company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Assist in training new operators on machine operation and safety practices as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience operating a POLAR 137 or similar programmable guillotine cutting machine is preferred.
- Experience working in a commercial print manufacturing environment is required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic troubleshooting and machine adjustments.
- Knowledge of machining processes and mechanical operations is an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret production specifications and technical drawings.
- Good mathematical and measurement skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to fabricate, package, and handle finished materials efficiently.
- Forklift experience and familiarity with warehouse operations are considered an asset.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team while meeting production deadlines.
