Job Summary
Wyder Horizons Construction Ltd. is a well-established residential renovation company based in Vancouver, BC. We've been in business for more than 15 years, specialize in large-scale residential renovations, and work alongside an affiliated electrical contracting company.
We're hiring one exceptional senior Red Seal carpenter. This is not a foreman position and it is not a narrow specialty role. We're looking for someone who understands how a house goes together, can work confidently from forming and framing through finish carpentry and custom millwork, and can take a defined scope and move it forward without needing constant supervision.
A note from the owner:
Wyder Horizons has my name on it, and I take that seriously. I've spent more than 15 years building this company, and I'm still ambitious about where it can go. We're small and I don't pretend otherwise. I work directly with my team, I move fast, I'm detail-obsessed, and I'm constantly looking for ways we can improve. We're investing in better systems, building out a new shop and office, and building something that I want good people to be proud of. This won't be the right fit for everyone, but if you take your craft seriously, want to keep getting better, and like being part of a company that is still moving forward, I'd like to meet you.
The reality of the role:
We self-perform a lot of our work. That means the scope is broad. You may be installing detailed millwork one day and doing demolition, protection, cleanup or material handling the next. Nobody is above the work. We're looking for a skilled carpenter who has pride in the technical work and the humility to do whatever the job needs.
What we're looking for:
· Red Seal Carpenter certification - required.
· 10+ years of carpentry / construction experience - required.
· Strong forming, framing and finish carpentry skills.
· Strong problem-solving ability in residential renovations and existing homes.
· Ability to read plans, organize a scope and work independently.
· Excellent punctuality, cleanliness, organization and attention to detail.
· Clear professional communication with clients, trades and the rest of the team.
· Valid driver's licence, reliable transportation and basic hand tools.
· Comfort using a phone and simple job-management / communication apps, and willingness to adopt new systems as we improve the business.
· A low-ego attitude and willingness to pitch in on demolition, cleanup and other practical work when needed.
