Job Title: Shop Foreman/woman – Acheson Alberta
The Opportunity:
Westvac Industrial Ltd. is seeking a motivated leader to join our floor operations at our Acheson Head Office. We are looking for an experienced professional to lead the floor while driving hands-on diagnostic and technical support, keeping the team on track, managing daily workflows, and ensuring work is completed safely and correctly the first time.
This role is structured for a proven leader. You will initially step in as our Lead Heavy Duty Technician/Master Diagnostic Mechanic, with a clear, performance-based track to officially earn and secure the Shop Foreman/woman title as you demonstrate an understanding of our floor dynamics, recruitment/onboarding integration, and performance and quality related standards.
Responsibilities:
- Lead daily shop floor operations, coordinate work assignments, and maintain an efficient workflow to meet customer deadlines.
- Guide, coach, and mentor apprentice mechanics, specifically helping them master complex wiring, electrical diagnostics, and specialized accessory installations.
- Run diagnostic tests, analyze faults using computerized testing equipment, and resolve complex issues on heavy trucks, industrial equipment, and municipal units.
- Utilize advanced knowledge of CAN Bus networks, Multiplex wiring systems, and electrical diagnosing to ensure all repairs meet strict manufacturer and customer specifications.
- Actively participate in shaping team performance, subtly supporting recruitment and onboarding evaluations to ensure high standards on the floor.
- Maintain a clean work area and ensure the team strictly adheres to safety protocols, related training, and correct PPE usage.
Requirements & Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years of prior experience in a dedicated Foreman/woman or equivalent shop leadership role is preferred.
- Journeyman Heavy Duty Equipment Technician with an On Road trade certification is required. An Off Road certificate is considered a strong asset.
- Deep, advanced understanding of electrical systems, diagnostic technologies, CAN Bus networks, and Multiplex wiring systems.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with a professional approach to leading industrial personnel.
- Extensive background working with diesel engines, mobile trucks, and industrial equipment, with prior dealership experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- A valid Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) license and/or Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certification is highly preferred..
- Ability to work after-hours if required.
Related Physical, & Safety Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment components, parts, and tools weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to push/pull up to 500 lbs.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights (with Fall Protection), and climbing heavy equipment for inspections and repairs.
- Tolerance for occasional exposure to environmental elements during work.
- Electronic Logging Device (ELD) use is required.
- Commitment to safety protocols, related training, and PPE usage.
Employment Type & Compensation:
- $95,000.00 – $105,000.00 per year (Based on experience and active certifications).
- Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, from 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, (30-minute lunch - unpaid).
