POSITION OVERVIEW
The Commercial Site Superintendent is responsible for the on-site supervision, coordination, and scheduling of all construction activities on commercial building projects. This role ensures that projects are completed safely, on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards, while maintaining strong relationships with subcontractors, clients, consultants, and internal teams. This position requires travel throughout British Columbia and Alberta based on operational needs. Candidates should be flexible and available to work evening or night shifts as required.
.KEY RESPONSIBILITES
Project Leadership & Coordination
- Oversee all daily site operations for commercial construction projects.
- Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, suppliers, equipment, and inspections.
- Conduct regular site meetings and maintain clear communication with project stakeholders.
- Ensure construction activities comply with project drawings, specifications, and schedules.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce WorkSafeBC regulations and company safety policies on site.
- Lead site safety orientations, toolbox talks, and hazard assessments.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure work site.
- Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and promote a strong safety culture.
Quality Control
- Monitor workmanship and materials to ensure compliance with project standards.
- Identify and resolve construction issues proactively.
- Review and approve shop drawings, samples, and mock-ups as required.
Project Execution & Documentation
- Track project progress and assist in maintaining the construction schedule.
- Maintain site documentation, including daily logs, deficiency lists, inspection reports, and as-built records.
- Support RFIs, change orders, and coordination between subcontractors and consultants.
Budget & Resource Management
- Monitor material deliveries, equipment use, and labour productivity.
- Prevent waste, protect company assets, and support cost-control measures.
- Work with the project manager on forecasting, procurement, and schedule adjustments.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience as a Site Superintendent in commercial construction (or related supervisory role).
- Strong understanding of BC Building Code, WorkSafeBC regulations, and municipal permitting processes.
- Proven ability to lead field teams and manage multiple trades effectively.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, etc.).
- Valid BC driver’s license.

Pay: $100,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Prince Rupert, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
Experience:
- Site Superintendent: 3 years (preferred)
