Job Title: Heavy Duty Mechanic
Location: Victoriba, BC
Rotation: Monday to Friday, 40 hours a week
We are seeking a Certified Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic or Journeyman Automotive Mechanic to join our team on a permanent full-time basis. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy machinery, construction equipment and hand tools. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency with hand and power tools, and the ability to work on equipment such as excavators, cranes (occasionally climbing cranes), forklifts, and various trucks. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will ensure all machinery/tools and vehicles are operating efficiently and safely, supporting our operations across multiple job sites.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, skid steers, zoom booms and vehicles.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
- Conduct welding and fabrication tasks as needed to repair or modify equipment components.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and troubleshoot to complete repairs accurately.
- Replace or repair defective parts such as belts, hoses, filters, engines, transmissions, and electrical systems.
- Maintain detailed service records for all repairs and maintenance performed.
- Assemble new equipment, cranes or components when required.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and industry regulations.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic or similar role.
- No issues or limitations working at heights.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems related to excavators, cranes, forklifts, smallt tools and other construction machinery.
- Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting complex issues.
- Experience with welding, fabrication, electrical repairs, and automotive repair is desirable.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, heavy lifting equipment, and heavy machinery safely.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in diagnosing issues accurately.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and work in physically demanding environments for extended periods.
