Full Job Description
OOTB Art Studio is a growing, community-focused ceramics studio offering pottery classes and creative workshops for both children and adults.
We are looking for a Ceramic Instructor & Studio Assistant who is passionate about clay, enjoys working with people, and is comfortable supporting both teaching and daily studio operations.
Responsibilities
Teaching
- Lead beginner wheel throwing and handbuilding classes
- Demonstrate basic techniques (centering, cylinders, simple forms)
- Provide hands-on guidance and support to students
Studio Support
- Prepare materials and tools for classes (wedging clay, setup)
- Maintain studio cleanliness and organization
- Assist with kiln loading/unloading (training provided if needed)
- Support clay reclaim and basic glaze preparation
Requirements
- Basic proficiency in wheel throwing (centering and simple forms)
- Experience with handbuilding techniques (slab, pinch, coil)
- Friendly, patient, and reliable
- Comfortable working with both children and adults
- Able to perform light physical tasks (lifting clay, cleaning, standing)
Preferred (Not Required)
- Previous teaching experience
- Experience in a ceramics studio environment
- Basic knowledge of firing and glazing processes
