Job Summary
Canada Ututoring Learning Institute is a non-profit organization committed to providing accessible, inclusive, and high-quality educational support at an extremely affordable rate. We are seeking dedicated and experienced Math tutors to join our team.
We are seeking an experienced High School Science Teacher to teach students primarily in Grades 9–12. Candidates must have strong knowledge of all three major science subjects—Physics, Chemistry, and Biology—and be familiar with the Ontario secondary school curriculum.
Applicants with experience teaching Ontario high school science courses, particularly SNC1W, SNC2D, SPH3U/4U, SCH3U/4U, and SBI3U/4U, will be strongly preferred. Familiarity with commonly used Ontario textbooks, including Nelson and McGraw Hill Ryerson, is an asset.
Classes may be delivered in person at our Markham location or online, depending on the teacher’s availability and students’ needs.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of high school Physics, Chemistry, and Biology
- Familiarity with the Ontario Grades 9–12 Science Curriculum
- Previous classroom or tutoring experience teaching high school science
- Ability to teach both foundational and advanced science concepts
- Experience with Ontario high school course content and assessments
- Ability to develop lesson plans, slides, worksheets, tests, and other teaching materials
- Experience working with teenagers and adapting instruction to different learning needs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to explain complex scientific concepts clearly and engagingly
- Patience, reliability, empathy, and strong classroom-management skills
- Familiarity with Nelson and McGraw Hill Ryerson science textbooks is preferred
- OCT certification or other teaching qualifications are considered an asset but are not required
Responsibilities
- Teach Physics, Chemistry, and Biology to students primarily in Grades 9–12
- Deliver individual or small-group lessons in person or online
- Develop lessons aligned with the Ontario curriculum and students’ school coursework
- Help students understand key concepts, complete assignments, and prepare for tests and examinations
- Identify students’ strengths, learning gaps, and areas requiring additional support
- Create customized lesson plans and supplementary learning materials
- Design and administer quizzes, tests, and practice exercises to monitor progress
- Adapt teaching strategies to students’ learning styles and academic goals
- Provide regular feedback to the Institute, students, and parents
- Maintain a positive, supportive, and academically engaging learning environment
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $25.00-$55.00 per hour
