Job Title: Program Leader (September 2026 – June 2027)
Position Type: Casual Contract: 0-5.5 hours per week (hours dependent on program needs)
Payment: Independent contractor honorarium paid in December, March, and June at a rate of $19.50.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in obtaining experience in leadership skills, program planning, coaching and sport facilitation. It’s ideal for any students pursuing Recreation, Education and/or Kinesiology or who simply enjoy the sport of soccer, being active and working with children.
Job Duties:
- Ability to facilitate all SYSI programs, including but not limited to Parent-Tot, All-Abilities, Dream League, etc.
- Ability to work with little to no supervision; work as a team with other Program Leaders
- Prepare session plans, facilitate session plans and/or soccer games, report timesheets and program attendance on a regular basis.
- Travel to select facilities throughout the city to work with the children registered in our programs
Requirements:
- Played soccer and/or enjoy the game is an asset.
- Experience coaching and/or working with children.
- Valid Driver’s License and proper vehicle for ‘pick-up and transportation of program equipment’ is required
- Criminal record and vulnerable sector check ~ expense reimbursed upon hiring and receipt submission.
- First Aid and CPR an asset
Mandatory Coach Certifications: ~ must be completed prior to start date-
- FUNdamentals – Online Classroom Module *($21 cost of online module will be reimbursed by SYSI if you are not certified – online training)
- FUNdamentals – Practical On-Field Module
- NCCP Learn to Train – Online Classroom Module *($31.50 cost of online module will be reimbursed by SYSI if you are not certified –online training)
- NCCP Learn to Train – Practical On-field Module
- Making Ethical Decisions - *($45 Cost of clinic will be reimbursed by SYSI if you are not certified)
- Respect in Sport – Free online course available
- Making Headway in Sport – Free online course available
- Emergency Action Plan – Free online course available
- Rule of Two – Free online course available
- NCCP Coaching Athletes with a Disability *($15 cost of module will be reimbursed by SYSI if you are not certified – online training)
- Respect in Sport – Coaching Kids of All-Abilities (cost of module will be reimbursed by SYSI if you are not certified – online training)
