Position Summary:
7Arts aims to engage the local community by providing a creative space that will encourage, teach, support and promote the Arts. We created this position specifically for the evolution of our gallery and gift shop. We want to elevate the gallery, increase traffic and engagement which will result in greater pride and awareness of our presence. The professional showcase of our pieces is paramount. This will allow people to shop with ease, see more art, learn about local artists and inspire more artists to join us. This will also increase the excitement for supporting local, increase tourism in our area and have a financial benefit for Artists & 7Arts. New partnerships will be formed with other local businesses as we plan new art shows, interactive “Meet&Greets” and continue our “Art to Go” program.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The Art Gallery Assistant is responsible for a variety of duties;
-Customer service and administrative support (20% of time)
-Assist with management of art gallery, gift shop and N.O.V.A. Club Tasks (75% of time)
-Other duties as required (5% of time)
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
-Computer skills; ability to use Microsoft, Excel, Google Suite, canva to support the gallery and complete required tasks, navigation of social media, websites, and researching on-line
-Data entry skills; compiling data, creating resources, writing instructions, research and reporting skills
-Excellent oral communication skills; ability to provide support, troubleshoot issues, ask probing questions, develop solutions while problem solving, provide guidance and direction to artists and volunteers
-Excellent time management skills; managing time and people, the ability to multi-task by completing your project while also answering questions, fielding sales inquiries, selling art and memberships
-Experience in communicating with the general public, service providers, volunteers, employees and employers
-Confident in abilities; positive customer service, adaptability, working in a team and independently, and maintaining a positive, patient, kind demeanour
Required Qualifications:
-English, competent in written and spoken communication, other languages an asset
-Reliable Transportation
-Bondable
-As this position is funded by Canada Summer Jobs, the applicant must be between the ages of 15-30.
Pay: $16.75 per hour
